So it’s time to upgrade the camera and I’m kind of stuck on two features. I want to move to full frame just on the principle that I’ll be able to work on my composition more and fine tune the craft. But I have fallen head over heels with my Canon 60D and it’s movable LCD screen. It has saved and helped me capture images that would have been very difficult to do without it. Those being the two things that are my wants in my upgrade, gives me 3 options in the canon line up. The Canon 80D, 70D, and the 5D Mk III. The 5D being the only full frame from these three and the other two having the opposable thumb.
The 5D being on the high end of the budget but a camera that I’ve lusted after for years. And Canon has done really great work with this line, it’s got to be an amazing camera. And since the 60D that I have, has been such a beast and been my best friend for 5 years, I know that the 5D will last longer and take more than I’ve dished out on the 60D. So upgrading to it, would insure that I’ll have a reliable camera for several years to come. But it lacks the screen that I have come to love and need of the 60D. That’s why the 80D and 70D are so high on the list for the next camera. And since I could buy both of them for the price of the 5D, would it not be wise to get both of them or two of one of them for a back up camera or 2nd shooter camera?
And these are just the Canons, I’ve looked at Nikons, which I loved working with at the studio. And then there is the new kid on the block, the Sony A7, one that has a lot of pro photographers switching from Canon and Nikon. The main reason I’m a Canon guy is that I have invested in a lot of glass and equipment on their line. And the L lenses line is some of the best out there. If you don’t think so, take a look at that image up top again. So why leave that? The competition is really making some great products and pushing what is capable of being built into these cameras. Some of these come with a WiFi feature which I have the Eye-Fi card that has come in real handy. Some many things to review and think of but so many options to stay with Canon or to maybe try the other teams. What to do….?
